Top Debuts: 1886-1890


Hey guys! So this is the next installment in the Top debuts Series. I am doing 1886-1890. So let’s get started.


1886
Manuelita- The top debut in 1886 for girls was Manuelita with 10 babies being born. Manuelita means God is with us in Spanish and was not given to any babies in 2011.
Terrence- The top debut in 1886 for boys was Terrance. Terrence is of unknown meaning and is Latin. It was ranked at number 646 in 2011.


1887
Verlie- This was the top debut for girl names in 1887. It was given to 13 babies. Verlie means beaver stream or meadow; faith in English. It was not given to any babies in 2011.
Myles- This was the top debut for boys in 1887. It was given to 11 babies. Myles means soldier in Latin and was ranked at number 238 in 2011.


1888
Ebba- This was the top debut for girls in 1888. It was given to 18 babies. Ebba means brave, strong boar in English. Ebba was given to 9 babies in 2011.
Carlisle, Hughie, and Orvel- These were the top debuts for boys in 1888. They were each given to 9 babies.
  • Carlisle means fort at Luguvalium in English. It was given to 23 babies in 2011.
  • Hughie means soul, mind, intellect in German and wasn’t ranked in 2011.
  • Orvel means gold town in French and isn’t ranked for 2011.


1889
Garnett- This was the top debut for girls in 1889. It was given to 12 babies. Garnett means a red semi-precious gem in English and wasn’t given to any babies in 2011.
Doyle- This is the top debut for boys in 1889. It was given to 9 babies. Doyle means black stranger in Irish and was given to 10 babies in 2011.


1890
Verena- This is the top debut for girls in 1890. It was given to 11 babies. Verena means true in Latin and was given to 21 babies in 2011.
Eduardo and Maggie- These were the top debuts for boys in 1890. They were given to 10 babies.
  • Eduardo means wealthy guard in English and is ranked at #184 in 2011.
  • Maggie means pearl in English and was not given to babies in 2011.

So that is my list. I have been very busy lately with school but have been able to keep up with this blog. Since the weekend is coming I hope to get a lot out.   1. My sister answers to the nickname Ebba - never realised it was also a male name (I knew it was a female name up in Scandinavia)!
